Reaching Out As the Body Of Christ

November 3rd daily blog devotional by Keith Wayne Edwards

Read:

Romans 12:5-8

So it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

1 Corinthians 12:8-11

For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by [a]the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

In 2015 my son and I were taking martial arts and became good friends with our martial arts instructor Shayne. He came down with some kind of pneumonia and bronchitis that made him pretty much bed-ridden. He lost tons of weight and couldn't even breathe if he laid on his back or side so had to sleep sitting up with a few pillows to prop his legs up. anyway, he was sick for a few months and I called him up one day and asked if me and my son could come over to bring him some pulled pork roast that I cooked for him and pray for him? My son and I went to his house and when he came out didn't even recognize him. We prayed for him and gave him a huge bowl of the pork roast. The next day he called me and asked if I had some more of that pork roast because it was the only thing he ate in weeks that he could keep down. He started getting better and we were back to our martial arts classes with him a couple of weeks later. God really moved that day to encourage our good friend and pray for healing. You see, God wants to use all of us. We are all one as the body of Christ, and whether God uses you to pray for someone, bring some food for someone who is in need, or any other gifts that is within you God wants you to reach out and be part of the body of Christ mixed with love and compassion.

Prayer:

Lord, help us to hear your voice. We desire to flow in how you want us to flow, whether it is supernatural healing, encouragement, or the five ministry gifts in leadership.
