Let Me See

Updated: Nov 5, 2020

November 2nd daily blog devotional by Keith Wayne Edwards

Jeremiah 6:16

Thus says the LORD, "Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in it; And you will find rest for your souls. But they said, 'We will not walk in it.'

I was teaching the youth one night at my home church and was telling them all that God is a loving God. As we gleamed into the scriptures of how God loves us, one of the girls had a trigger response that made her break down crying. I remember telling them that God loves us just as much as anyone. You're not better than anyone, but just as good as anyone. I proceeded to tell them that God is not that bias teacher or family member that might have abused you. He's not that father or mother who abandoned you as a child. God is love, and no greater love than for Him to send His Son down for us to die a horrible death for the sins of humanity. We prayed for this young teenage girl, and the Holy Spirit healed her of some things. Here in Jeremiah, we see that stand is an interesting ancient Hebrew meaning. The word is ayin, mem, and dalet. Ayin is a picture of an eye. The eye is to see God the right way. Mem is a picture of water, and dalet is a picture of a door. We need to see God how we need to see Him, to realize that God sent His Son down for us as the washing of His word and that Christ is the door now for salvation to you and me. I want you to seek God today in your prayer time and say, "Holy Spirit, let me see you how I need to see you. Wash me with your word and let me see that you are the door to my life. I follow you today Lord, and where you lead me I will follow.

Prayer:

Lord, teach me your ways. Light the way to the path you chose for me to heal me today of any hurts that I may have gone through. Let me see you how you really are.
