God Will Always Supply a Ram

October 7th daily blog devotional by Keith Edwards

Genesis 22:13,14

13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.

14 So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, "On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided."

Have you ever felt like God left you out to dry? You sometimes find yourself wondering, "How in the world did I get here, and where am I going?" God is in control of our life, and we need to let Him guide us and direct us in the way we should go. God will test us sometimes to see if we love Him more than the desires and dreams of our hearts, and this is what He did with Abraham. Abraham loved His son so much, and to do this deed was crushing to him, and Abraham knew that God would have to provide for him or the seed not go forth as God had promised. God did provide for him a sacrifice in place of His Son, and God was very pleased with him. His seed went forth. You may have a dream or goal that you need to put on the altar today. God will provide the desire that you have once we give our desires and concerns to Him. There's nothing wrong with having dreams and desires because God put those things in us. The problem is that we can take the dreams and desires that we have in our lives and try and bring them to pass at the wrong timing. We find that an Ishmael has been born, and while God has to get us back on the right track we find that the Ishmael's in our life have to be dealt with. Let's go forth today with letting the Lord perfect the things that we have inside of us in His timing. If doors aren't opening right now it could be that God has to deal with some things in our life. God is concerned with the condition of our soul more than we are concerned with the dreams and desires that God does want in our life. There is always a ram in the bush, but we need to open our eyes and believe that He will provide.

Lord, we come to you by faith and ask that you forgive us for not trusting in you. You are the Lord that provides, and you will provide us with the things that we need. The greatest thing we can offer up to you Lord is the faith that we have in your Son Jesus. Because of Jesus, we can stand when the winds blow, fulfill our destiny here on earth as we grow, and offer worship to you as we walk down life's road. We long to be more obedient Lord. Amen.
