I Can't Fit In These Things

October 1st blog devotional by Keith Wayne Edwards

Read:

Colossians 1:9,10

For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.

Imagine as a young kid putting on a pair of fireman pants that are twice the size that you can wear. You put them on to only find yourself tripping over things, unable to put out fires, and getting frustrated because you don't have the correct uniform for the job. So many times, we as Christians find ourselves either trying to put out fires in our own strength, or not having the experience necessary to carry out what you need to carry out to grow more in the Lord. You can find that patience is the key to step upon that next step God wants you and me to step upon. You may have to stay on that one step for a while, but God's love towards us on the step we're on is no more special than if you were many steps further along. These steps we take are part of that spiritual growth. I want to encourage you today to pray for God's will in your life. Yes, there are times that we have to put out fires, but let God give you the knowledge and strength to do it. Go forth in the Lord today, and remember, God loves you right where you are at in your walk with Him.
